The most telling part of the Swallwell case is that his staffers abandoned him immediately. That’s what you do when you believe the accusations and/or it’s not a good person to work for. If there were no credibility to the claims, people would be out there vouching for his character. It’s what people feel compelled to do when they believe in innocence.

Well POTUS is a mollester...

Guess stalwell had presidential ambitions...

I see you point, too. Ultimately, bad people will stand behind the bad, and good people behind the good.

Good comment Mr. S! There are certain areas criminal behavior, that even other criminals abhorrent! Sadly justified and mollesters must be jailed! Their criminality treated as a disease that's contagious and long-lived!

Good point, and it says so much about the sycophants surrounding Trump, doesn't it?

That's what people used to do until corruption of officials under this regime made people lose all faith in our leaders- and it's being done deliberately.

We also need to consider the sources of the accusations; in this case a tRump toadie, Roger Stone found women will to make accusations(possible paid to) against a man with the courage to speak out and force him to drop out so a fascist, trump flunkie can run in his place to further destroy our formerly great country, as for his staff- they knew he was going down and ran like rats on a sinking ship.

They did it to Franken and they're doing it to Swalwell and wilth anyone against their agenda.l continue wi

Interesting differences in how the narrative is formed by Democrat vs Republican. Swalwell is resigning, Gonzales is retiring. Swalwell's resignation is immediate, Gonzales - ???? Swalwell somewhat takes responsibility for his acts, Gonzales takes little if no responsibility, and instead says it was God's plan.

The Crooked Republicans always want us to believe that All of them are family Value Great Christians, just as Trump, Paula White who was married 3 times,.

Have to say how refreshing it is to hear someone like yourself (in fact YOURSELF!) actually shaking off the reins of network oversight and doing more than nuanced personal opinion verging on venting about the insanity currently taking the place of government. Keep up the good work.

If Trump's report on Joe weaponizing the judicial department is 800 plus pages...just wait till the Dems make their report! We might have to plant more trees to provide the paper on Trump's one year of occupancy.

I like how Trump mentioned DoorDash Gramma's husband having cancer and implying that no tax on tips helps that. As if no tax on tips saves you enough money to make a dent in the bills you would get from cancer care. And, why does she need to do DoorDash? Please post about the referendum in Virginia. The vote is on April 21st. Vote Yes! https://talkaboutchoice.substack.com/p/first-things-first-in-virginia-vote

Thanks for this amount of detailed info. You are a pro.

As for Swallwell, he’s a scumbag, democrat or not!

For the Kansas law, while Kelly's comments seem to imply that the bill is directed toward protestors, my reading of the bill itself does not appear to exempt law officers so wondering if it could potentially apply to ICE/CBP officers as well.

Jennifer Kass's avatar

I wondered the same thing. I'm sure the turds will word it so that it exempts their brown shirts

Donald Trump is not fit to be President or is Trump smart enough to be President, A man with out Experience or Knowledge to be President ,Donald Trump runs the White House as a MOB Center. for crooked thugs.

I don't know if Swalwell is guilty or not. That's up to the courts. What I find so strange is that these allegations come at a time when Swalwell's inquiry into Trump's involvement in the J6 Capitol attack is about to go forward. Not that I think Donald, the 34-count convicted felon and rapist, would take revenge on anyone.

"How is it that Democrats are scrambling around calling on their enemy’s pool boy to put country over party (and his own political career), while they refuse to put their careers (or bodies) on the line to stop a global atrocity? For Democrats, impeachment should be the floor. It should be the least they’re willing to do. “I will support articles of impeachment” should be the secret phrase Democrats have to say before being allowed access to the cloakroom. On the upper end, Democrats should be trying to bring the government to a grinding halt until the genocidal maniac is removed from office. Elected representatives throughout history have literally walked out and refused to participate in governments as evil as ours is right now. At some point, you have to decide to be Charles de Gaulle or you become Philippe Pétain."

Everyone calling for (deserved) impeachment seems to not be thinking much about who would succeed Trump. The next 2 in line are Vane and Johnson - IMO not an improvement. They might not continue with the outrageous claims and distortions (well, Vance does have a history... Johnson to a lesser degree, he only parrots Trump) but they are both all in on the overall agenda, and Vance might have his strings pulled by the Thiel cabal.

Kelvin Hobbs's avatar

I agree. IMO, Hillbilly Vance was plucked out of obscurity by Thiel & Co., who shoved Sherrod Brown under an Ohio bus and promoted Vance into the national spotlight. I think he was groomed to do their bidding for years after Grift and Glitz first clears the path. 47 likely is a placeholder, probably promised wealth to advance Project 2025. It would not surprise me to learn that he is being kept in place until January 21, 2027, so that Vance will be eligible to do their bidding for up to 10 years (Amendment 22(1)). If so, 47 would not be the first to leave office early. “When the public began to learn about all the “skullduggery, lying and criminal activity” that had occurred during the Harding administration, it was easy to wonder if the president had been a victim of his own corrupt cronies, collectively known as the “Ohio gang” [said Kathryn Olmsted, an historian at the UC, Davis].” https://tinyurl.com/3ht6hs65 I think people should be careful what they wish for; they might just get it and be very unhappy with what they receive.

Besides Kansas, Louisiana also recently introduced a bill to make it a crime to protest/disrupt church services. As a side note to this, Don Lemon is from Louisiana. I am sure this is a symbolic gesture to attack him by the MAGA here. Just another reason for me to hate this state. Thank you, Scott.

Thanks for pointing out that Gonzalez is "filing for retirement" at this stage, not "resigning," as corporate media has been reporting.

At 882 pages, I suspect the Weaponization of the Justice Department by Biden Report will be more cherry picked than read by the Republicans.

Connie Walker's avatar

Mr. Macfarlane,

There is a VERY big difference between resignation from Congress, and retirement. To date, I don't see anyone pointing this out. Instead, those words seem to be used interchangeably. Gonzales needs to RESIGN from Congress. His predatory sexual conduct and the suicide of his staffer should disqualify him from any benefits that accrue to a member retiring from Congress. Words matter. Scott, I hope that you, Rachel Maddow, HCR, and mainstream media investigate the difference between resignation and retirement from Congress, pick up this story and spread it far and wide. VR/ C.A. Walker, CAPT, USN (Ret.)
