Data centers should just help with their costs they must pay completely for their costs.

YES! Or be banned altogether! They are polluters, use way too much water and pollute it with toxic chemicals that can NOT be gotten out again. Not to mention some of what they produce is very HARMFUL to children especially. I've only heard of one possible good thing - and it's in the medical field. Also how many jobs will they be taking from people? There are a lot of reasons for NOT having them and very few reasons to have them.

Mary Higgins's avatar

They should pay their way and pay to replenish resources they are destroying to simply exist!

Cyn B's avatar

The problem is some resources are not inexhaustible, eg clean water. No amount of money can replace what has been taken/decimated.

Cyn B's avatar

Makes me think of the areas in the SW where deep ground water supplies have been completely collapsed. Those don't just come back in a snap.

Toxtli Melloh's avatar

Unfortunately the resources they recklessly consume are finite, and cannot be replaced. There must be a moratorium on these parasites now. No amount of money can ever replace the the damage they cause, even if they were held accountable..

Data centers should be responsible for ALL the costs they impose on any community. And the biggest problem for them is that you can't create more water, which they will deplete from any community they're near.

Madannie's avatar

WTF is the point of data centers anyhow? Seems some folk are intent upon killing the planet and all of us on it

I zeroed in on that too! Every governor must be all over this underhanded deceit from the same oligarchs trying to turn us into serfs.

Regarding the WH not seeing closing the strait coming: for years there have been numerous “think tank” discussions of the consequences of attacking Iran, and they’ve pretty much followed the script: retaliatory attacks on other countries in the Mideast and closure of Hormuz. Absolutely nothing new or surprising there: Ray Charles could have seen it coming.

Appreciate everything you do - a great addition to Meidas

I loved your carefully crafted opening sentence, "The Epstein files controversy hasn’t been politically fatal for the Trump Administration, but it sure has been a debilitating chronic condition."

Also kudos to Oregon's governor Tina Kotek, for her official stance against immigration intrusions into educational facilities by federal authorities.

Always the first, and usually only, news I read with my first cuppa. I have to breath a minute.

I'm glad you stay on duty on weekends, as that is the time when the Trump Administration tends to push its craziness. They wait for the stock market to close, and they know that the corporate media has still not ramped up for weekend news. In short, they try very hard to manipulate the news cycle.

Leeeba's avatar

Is anyone else appalled that Congress has not returned to DC? Some say it’s just optics, and maybe it is, but there’s too much going on for them to be …..where? Who knows?? But there’s still donation requests every other day.

Marliss Desens's avatar

A number of Democrats have returned, among them Senator Andy Kim. Heather Cox Richardson will be interviewing him today, and it will be on her YouTube channel to watch later as well.

Absolutely Unfing believable that the rethuglikkkrussians are hiding! They need to go! WTH has the trump ads kissing senators or house members done for the middle class??? Except screw us over n over! Rest assured, our next DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENT will clean up the mess!

Like every Democratic President has done for years! Clean up an fing rethuglikkkrussians mess!

As someone who has seen the true cost of conflict in Afghanistan, it’s exhausting to see human suffering used as a political football. Whether it's the Epstein survivors being asked to carry the burden of proof again, or the thousands of lives lost in new Middle East escalations, the stakes are real people, not just headlines.

The attempts to restrict the press at the Pentagon are particularly concerning transparency is the only way to hold power accountable. While Washington fights over ballroom renovations and committee depositions, regular people are left feeling the sting of rising gas and electricity prices. We need less political theater and more actual stability.

Thank you,vScott. So appreciate your diligence and thoroughly detailed reports. When do you sleep? This will be a very bumpy ride before we hit smooth waters, but I do believe we will, eventually, get there! Independent reports and circuit court judges will be big reasons why!

The entire plan, if the WH were under serious attack, would be to get potus out. That's the whole purpose of that plane, the former bunker at The Greenbrier, and wherever that was moved to. Hell, it's more likely Trump would be at Mar a Largo anyway. I'm pretty sure we are not the only country with bunker busters (not to mention nuclear warheads). His bullshit excuses don't move us. He could still have gone thru the appropriate process.

Iran knows where you are every minute, Donald. The EW won't save you.

Robin D's avatar

All of us know now. Before he tore down the East Wing, I never knew where that situation room, or where they hid Cheney during 9/11. I "assumed" it was top secret and never thought anything about it. Now he has announced to, everyone, friend or foe, where the bunker is. He is the biggest blabbermouth on the planet....and our worst security risk.

Regarding WAPO article: China helped broker Iran truce, but it’s wary of deeper involvement

China is proving itself to be a great nation. By December, US citizens who turn 8 years old don't need to worry about leaving home or going anywhere, you are now the property of the US to use and dispose of however the King of the US sees fit, and you are guaranteed passage to eternal life with Allah. No worries, if you are born into this Epstein Class, your future as a con, a scammer, or the next American looter is protected and guaranteed; your freedom from the law as a pedophile is guaranteed, you will not be amongst the suckers and losers who get forced into the Forever Epstein Class Wars as a biological shield against MUSK’s AI Killer drones. Your sacrifice will be remembered by the Trump Crime Family Members who sit on the Board of Directors and prosper off every single transaction of your military mission that gets televised, sensationalized before an addicted gambling audience who wager “bigly” off every military mission that you serve.

Is this a motive for Melania Trump? Check out this video, "Michael Wolff's lawsuit against Melania Trump Google lights" https://share.google/DdKkBQKVEdH36lyUC

It looks like a strong contender, I must say.

That and the fact that Amanda Ungaro who was deported by ICE has threatened Melanie to expose everything she knows…and it seems she must know A LOT!

Martha Kenne's avatar

It seems like there's some drama ahead!!!!

Catherine Walters's avatar

Very likely.

And yes, she was correct when she said that she met Trump in a nightclub in New York City. However, she doesn't mention that they're meeting there was arranged by a Brazilian "modeling agent" who was closely aligned with Epstein, according to Michael Wolfe.

MysteryMove's avatar

This is also old news; heard this in 2025. however, anything good out of "Michael Wolff's lawsuit against Melania is welcomed news. Better yet, any sudden vertical shift or rapid uplift that can trigger a large enough tsunami that carts Trump off to jail is welcomed. Give anything to see MAGA Epstein Class deplorables go over unsurvivable falls.

Anne MacDonald's avatar

Lawsuit is still moving foward. It is the direct line to subpoena that may be causing concern to Trumps.

WJB Motown's avatar

Moscow TV shows Melania's soft porn.....lesbian pics and vids.....round the clock. Trumpworld always takes it to the lowest level possible.

Thomas Locatell's avatar

If Melania wanted to reveal something, she would have done so. Forcing the issue of having victims testify before Congress is an odd twist, I don't know what to make of it.

Colleen Wetteland's avatar

I heard the survivors are NOT on board with that either! Why put the onus back on them??? There may be some who want to and they should be allowed to speak but there are many who do NOT want that!

Adrianne's avatar

It is abhorrent to call for survivors to re-traumatize themselves in front of Congress. It’s one thing to extend an invitation to speak, for anyone whose recovery involves advocating, but another altogether to tell someone that they should subject themselves to public scrutiny after what they’ve already endured.

INDIVISIBLE has this letter to sign or contacting our representatives and senators. We must stop the surveillance act from being renewed. Our privacy is being invaded and misused to attack people who are considered political enemies. Please read, adapt the form they sent as you wish, and contact your representative and senators very soon before the vote comes up.

Honorable Senator/Representative,

I am writing today to urge you to demand major reforms to Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), and to withhold your vote from reauthorization without reforms.

Specifically, it is essential that you withhold your vote from reauthorization until the legislation is amended to:

Close the backdoor search loophole: The government should not continue to be allowed to access personal communications without a warrant to consistently protect personal privacy.

Close the data broker loophole: Intelligence agencies and law enforcement must be held to the same standard of privacy protection when purchasing data from commercial brokers. In the age of AI this protection is essential to preventing unprecedented government collection of our data.

Fix the overbroad expansion of electronic communication service providers: As it is currently written, the ECSP definition is vague and overbroad. Right now, building owners (including those that lease space to nonprofits and media outlets), can be compelled to turn over data from their internet systems to the government. That must stop.

Remove barriers to amici access and participation at the FISA Court: Even after prior reforms, amici are still restricted in access to proceedings and relevant materials. This reform will ensure the FISA Court allows amici access to cases affecting civil rights and civil liberties.

Now more than ever in the era of mass AI, personal privacy and civil liberties must be protected. I expect you to hold the line to protect your constituents from unnecessary and warrantless mass surveillance by refusing to reauthorize FISA without reform.

Thank you for amplifying the message and I’ve actually been telling Scott too in a dm and in a few posts by various other Substack accounts here by trying to tag him. NOBODY is discussing this. I’ve said it in chats with the contararians and Glenn Kirschner as well as with legal af Michael popok. Now of course the heavy news cycle which is more urgent is what we are discussing

The vote may be as early as April 13.

See Jess Craven account here some more info as well as Robert Reich

I say this with a heavy heart. I am weary of reading all the horrible things happening in our country and in our world because of the criminals, psychopaths and greedy monsters who fill OUR feeds. I appreciate that taking the legal route is admirable. Where has it gotten us when too many Democrats are equally as compromised with lobbyists and stock trades. We are despaired at the lack of action to stop this mad man. I just don't understand that there are so few men and women willing to take the drastic steps needed to call to account these monsters who are likely continuing to abuse and destroy women and children. SOMEONE DO SOMETHING TO PUT A STOP TO THE MADNESS BEFORE HE BLOWS UP THE WORLD.
