Thank you for your reporting. I would like someone in the media to explain the mechanics of how trump orders the east wing removed. Who does he give the direction to, who implements the order, who hires the contractor, who drafts the contract and how is money transferred. I am
sitting here in rural Missouri and I don’t understand the logistics of how he got
the reflecting pool work done. Who in the government is taking that direction without question? Can they be held accountable for acting without congressional spending approval? I think the mechanics of
this spending need scrutiny and legislation to stop it in the future, if we don’t have the methods in place now. Of anyone wants to explain please enlighten me.
If Trump's grotesque arch ends up being built it should be demolished as soon as Trump is gone. Likewise for the monstrous gilded ballroom which will dwarf our WH.
I love starting each morning with coffee and “Day Ahead”. This morning for some crazy reason my mind brought up another morning briefing I really enjoyed: The opening of that excellent police show “Hill Street Blues” with Sgt Phil Esterhaus addressing the officers in the squad room before they go out on patrol. “And hey, let’s be careful out there!” That statement really applies in our current challenging times. Scott -- I agree with others that your Day Ahead is the best read of the morning. I continue to say that you are the very best at covering all things Washington. Yes, I'm a bit biased living in this area since my GW days...for 45+ years. Your relentless coverage of J6 is like no other. We are so fortunate to have you working for us! Thank you.
Oh, and your sense of humor is infectious. The Tarp Capital of the World! I think I sense a little NY sarc from time to time -- which I recognize in myself. I think you grew up outside the city in upstate NY? (as I did)

Why isn't the mainstream media concerned about the commission for elections? If Dumpy truly was concerned about election integrity, he would be giving them more latitude rather than depletion of accountability. Our media is so twisted.
One of my concerns is that they collate detailed election data, without which there is little way to track what the dastardly deniers have up their collective sleeve. I did hear that the staff are still there just not the commissioners. But this is one of those ‘break something then complain that it’s broken’ maneuvers we’ve learned to expect.
Sheryl, the plans for that egotistical, nonsensical arch are shocking, indeed! We have protested against it outside of the Arlington Cemetery (both my parents are buried there) with many Vietnam Vets -- 3 in particular who are part of the lawsuit brought against the building of this atrocity.

Certainly it would require something from the republican majority in Congress and they seem content to fiddle while Rome burns.

It's the biggest eyesore. I'm so sorry that you've had to deal with it. I'm surprised that he hasn't put a bust of himself on the top.
