A Dire Warning About Mainstream Media in U.S. (Two News Organizations in Particular) from a Trump critic on the FCC

As Anna Gomez ticked off the possibilities, each one sounded progressively worse.

A lot worse.

Gomez, a commissioner on the Federal Communications Commission, warned of:

• A dangerous and dire road ahead for broadcast news in America.

• Capitulating media cowering to President Trump

• The potential of mass layoffs inside two specific major media organizations. And soon.

• More shuttered newsrooms in some U.S. communities.

• More corporate control of what we see and read in legacy media.

Gomez, a 2023 appointee of President Biden who has stood up against Trump and MAGA control of the FCC, said it seems “This Administration just cannot tolerate any kind of dissent.”

She’s especially troubled about of an emerging new dynamic:

• A “billionaire buddy” system that risks decimating the foundations of the free press.
