Am anxiously waiting for my response from my Senator Charles Grassley who heads the Senate Judiciary committee to explain when both the Senate Judiciary committee and Congress approved this 1.8 billion dollar taxpayer funded fund.

As someone who also “communicates” with Grassley’s offices periodically—- and, good lord, it should/could be a daily event—-I can tell you that any response will be the usual lengthy walk through condescension as you’re reminded of his role and how the Senate works and obfuscation and deflection as you are told that your concern is somehow someone else’s fault and then a nice pat on the head as he(his staff writers) tell you how much he enjoys hearing from you.

Hmmmm. Sounds like contacting the offices of Ted Cruz and John Cornyn. If you get a response at all…

I will say that both Ernst’s and Grassley’s offices have always sent a reply ( as far as I recall), though not necessarily timely, typically with same talking points, and always satisfying at minimum. Grassley’s staffers design a lengthier response than the Ernst staff do, but they do respond…eventually…

However, I feel your pain, my sister. Sigh. 😞

The office that would normally chase this bullshit is the office Blanche runs, and it's spent the past year purging the career staff who would have flagged any of this. Without subpoena power Durbin and Schiff's letter is just an archival flourish. I'm glad they're trying, but once again the MAGAs will get away with it. They're getting more comfortable with their newfound superpower... having absolutely no shame whatsoever, repugnant scoundrels in broad daylight.

Good morning, and thank you, Scott, for keeping us informed. Really appreciate you.

Great reporting. This probe is 💯appropriate & must be done. That said, I have zero confidence the actual truth will be disclosed. Blanche is a corrupt lying loyalist. He will work to cover up any wrongdoing. 🤬

Gone are the days when I would get excited about senators launching a probe. Nowadays the launch seems to fizzle as it disappears into the ether, never to be heard of again.

Once again thank you for the in-depth analysis of your day and breaking down the corruption

Thank you for this reporting. Corruption must never be normalized.

Are ethics any part, at all, in this administration? I Guess Not.

$1,776 billion dollars in a "Weaponization Fund" is not lost on this citizen as to intent to provide settlements for the January6 Rioters/Christian Nation adherents to the tune of a million bucks apiece.

Plus, going forward more taxpayer money under current standing conditions where Congress has no more control and then the Administration can just go to mete out even more money for more criminal acts as a reward for more criminal violence!

The buying of criminal violence at over one million dollars a pop is an incentive, not just a restitution for past events where actual demonstrable loss by government action was the original intent of the Fund.

Leave it to the fascists in the Trumpenazi administration to see a way to once again rob the piggy bank.

Yeah, no ethics. No ethics whatsoever.

That too, will be continuing until the next President is at their inaugural date. With more Trump pardoning until the last minute, most assuredly.

The amount using the symbology of 1776 isn't lost on this citizen, either. It's most disgusting, banal and threatening.

It's another one of those Pitchforks to the White House moments.

"If Congress does not get their act together."... We're way beyond that pleading for doing their job. Blue Wave or whatever isn't going to solve something already set in stone. How do we the People freeze those assets? Got to find a way or else...

The amount of actual Trumpenazi fascist filth and kleptocracy is beyond astounding. It's the death knell of the republic, just so you know.

History will look back... Franklin was right, they couldn't keep it.

We literally have a criminal enterprise in our government.

Trump taking the most of the profits in his second bite at the apple by every kleptocratic move he can find and exploit.

Definitely falls under the category of " "things not to do during an election year".

Someone needs to file a lawsuit against the payout fund and get a temporary restraining order against any payouts. Trump won't obey, but it would create a legal basis for disgorgement later. I don't know if this would work, but it could make the recipients unsure they will be able to keep the payout. If plaintiff wins the case, eventually, and the payouts were sent already, those recipients could be liable for those payments.

Judge Williams accepted the withdrawal of the case by Trump, but she was clear that there was no legal settlement of record since Trump's legal team never submitted any documents regarding a settlement.

That matters because the payouts are not the result of a legal settlement because there was no legal settlement. There is nothing that the administration or recipients can use as a legal basis for the payouts. It is simply a decision by the executive branch.

Also, Jim Comey, Maureen Comey, Lisa Cook, Jerome Powell, and the 300,000 civil servants terminated by Trump should demand payouts from Trump, and when he refuses, sue him. When they win, they could choose to donate it back to the government tax-free or keep it since they have valid claim to it.

I imagine this letter from congressmen will result in Assistant Attorney General Lauria's firing before she can research and draft a response. Then she can file a request for money from the new 1776 Fund. It will be fun to see how far she gets.

Of course , they will get by with it!!! He has all of his sycophants in there. They can do anything they want , because they have been since he's been president, and gotten by with it!!! SCUMBAGS!!!!!

Waiting for the explanation Scott.
